Rohingya Documents: an archive of Rohingya history and identity

Rohingya Documents is an open archive of historical Rohingya documents — identity cards, land records, family registrations and official papers that preserve the history and identity of the Rohingya people of Arakan, Myanmar.

Document categories

• Identity & Citizenship (113 documents): National Registration Cards (NRC), three-folded national cards, Citizenship Scrutiny Cards, white cards and other identity papers issued to Rohingya families in Myanmar.
• Land & Property (78 documents): Land grants, land revenue and tax receipts, sale and mortgage deeds, paddy and farmland records that prove Rohingya ownership of land in Arakan.
• Household & Family (60 documents): Household lists, family registration forms and official household photographs that record Rohingya families and their members.
• Government & Public Service (29 documents): Appointment orders, official letters, pension cards and service records of Rohingya who served as officials, headmen, soldiers and civil servants in Myanmar.
• Community & Political Life (25 documents): Membership cards and papers of political parties, student and youth leagues and community organisations, showing Rohingya participation in public life.
• Currency & Finance (17 documents): Historical banknotes, coins, bank cards and financial receipts kept by Rohingya families, including currency from the Japanese occupation of Burma.
• Education (4 documents): School and university certificates, mark sheets and student records of Rohingya learners.
• Travel & Movement (3 documents): Travel permits, movement passes, passports and repatriation forms that document how Rohingya movement was recorded and restricted.
• Human Rights Records (7 documents): Records connected to violence against the Rohingya, including household lists of victims of the 2017 Tula Toli massacre.
• Other Documents (29 documents): Mixed document collections and papers that do not fit a single category.
