The Ruling Authority: Japanese Occupation (1942–1945)
The Ruling Authority: Japanese Occupation (1942–1945) When this currency was issued, the Empire of Japan controlled Burma (now Myanmar). Following the Japanese invasion in 1942, British colonial rule was displaced in much of the country. The Japanese government issued a special currency known as Japanese Invasion Money (JIM) for use in occupied Burma. This banknote is a historical reminder of the Japanese occupation and its impact on Burma's monetary system. Mohammad Ayaz
