A Forgotten History of Courage and Sacrifice U Nobi Hussain was a Rohingya man who served in the military in 1971. He was from Aung Seik Pying, also known as Dhum Bhai (Redah), in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, Myanmar. After his retirement, when other soldiers reportedly raped, tortured, and extorted money from villagers, he tried his best to protect his community and defend his people.Tragically, he was kidnapped by other military personnel and killed in a forest east of his village. His story reflects the courage of a man who stood up for his people, even when doing so put his own life at risk. His memory deserves to be preserved as part of Rohingya history.
